<\/a>GRINDLEFORD PARISH COUNCIL \u2013 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 9 October 2025 AT 7 PM IN THE PAVILION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present:  Andrew Battarbee (chair), Elizabeth Coe, Anwen Fryer Burrows, Hilary Hart, Alex Erskine, Peter O\u2019Brien, Esther Stewart,  District Cllr Simon Ripton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew Finch attended the meeting.  He asked about increased street lighting between the village and the station.  Cllrs explained that extra streetlights were the remit of the County Council, and that not all residents were in favour of more streetlights, but that other options such as low level bollards could be considered.  Residents to be consulted before the Council is approached.   Andrew Finch also asked about the consultation for the development at the quarry which took place in July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/td>COUNTY COUNCILLOR\u2019S REPORT<\/td>Cllr Sutton sent apologies.  <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>DISTRICT COUNCILLOR\u2019S REPORT  <\/td>Cllr Ripton updated on Network Rail.  Tehr had been no substantive from them.  Cllr O\u2019Brien reported that due to lack of funding the Discovery Centre at Longshaw would be closing.  <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>POLICE REPORT    <\/td>None<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

3<\/td>MATTERS ARISING  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>Website    <\/td>The schedule of contributions was accepted.  Action Cllrs according to the schedule.<\/strong>  <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>Footpath restoration  <\/td>Cllr Erskine offered to bring quotes and options to the next meeting.  Action Cllr Erskine.<\/strong>  <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>Flood wardens<\/td>All three flood wardens had attended training at Derbyshire CC, which was part of the conditions of insurance.  The outcome was to find and update the 2017 flood resilience plan, this is underway.    <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>Network Rail             Archive         War Memorial Trust   Village Gates                 Leam Lane Quiet Lane<\/td>Cllr Battarbee\u2019s letter to Steve Flitter had resulted in a letter from Mr Flitter to Network Rail. NR has sent a bland and to some extent inaccurate response about what they are doing.  No substantive progress but Jihn Whitby MP\u2019s involvement was welcomed.    Clerk had submitted a report to the PCC.  As the vicar was retiring, they asked to defer discussion to their next meeting.  Clerk to progress.  Action Clerk<\/strong>   Clerk to pursue.  Action Clerk. <\/strong>  <\/strong> Cllr Erskine reported that the response from Highways was looking increasingly unfavourable and the project was unlikely to go ahead.  Cllr Hart felt that some acknowledgement of Steve Mehdi\u2019s original generous and subsequent pledges from other stakeholders needed to be acknowledged.    Action Cllr Hart, Cllr Erskine<\/strong>  <\/strong> Clerk had attended the parish council forum at the County Council and spoken to Dan McCrory the lead officer.  She gave him a copy of a summary report she had prepared which he undertook to pass on.  He said that DCC did not yet have a policy on quiet lanes but were considering it.  Clerk to pursue.  Action Clerk.<\/strong>  <\/td><\/tr>
 <\/td>Deer signs  <\/td>Agreed that Clerk would write to DCC asking for deer signs.  Action Clerk.<\/strong>  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
